Martine Bernard
Joining Words that Cook! as co-host is Haitian-born Martine Bernard, a self-described “citizen of the world.” Her childhood experiences growing up in Haiti, the Belgian Congo (now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Montreal, give Martine a unique view of both the world, and the world of literacy. Martine credits her parents, both educators, for her love of reading. To ensure Martine was a well-spoken and well-informed child, her parents encouraged her to read as much as possible, both in English and in French. After studying art history at Emmanuel College, Martine found herself spending a year singing jazz throughout France and Germany. A certified Sisterlocks stylist, Martine is equally at home in the worlds of high fashion, music and literacy.
