This organization supports Words That Cook!
The International Reading Association
is a professional membership organization reaching out to parents with brochures, books and booklets, some of which are available in English and Spanish. IRA and NCTE jointly maintain the web site www.ReadWriteThink.org where there are student materials providing interactive resources. These student materials provide free browser plug-ins. Titles of a few of the materials are: Comic Creator, Drama Map, Letter Poem Creator, Literary Elements Map, and Word Maker.

Site includes both age appropriate and family tips for reading aloud as well as suggestions for motivating your child to read. For example, are you interested to see if your child is ready for reading? Check out their “Get Ready to Read! Screening Tool”. It is designed for four –year- olds, and was developed by The National Center for Learning Disabilities.
